These are my favourite musical spots

Music crosses boundaries, helps us understand each other, and can allow us to recreate memories through a simple lyric. Here are some of my favourite musical spots in the world:

Oslo, Norway

You may be surprised to see Norway on the list, but Oslo is jam-packed full of great musical spots. Rockefeller Music Hall has been the place to go for live music since it was established in 1986, and here, visitors can experience a nightclub along with the music hall.

The Underwater Pub is another awesome place to visit, with an aquarium interior and performances by opera singers every Tuesday and Thursday. There’s also a wide selection of high-quality wines and delicious beers, with plenty of food as well.

Be sure to check out Bla, which is where you’ll find lots of live music. This bar is right next to a river, and you should definitely take photos of some of the colorful street art. This is the place to go to see both established local bands and up-and-coming musicians.

Austin, Texas

You’ve probably heard Austin called the “Live Music Capital of the World”, and this is the place to catch a seemingly limitless amount of shows and concerts. With this excellent music comes cocktails and beer, followed by some delicious Texan food. Check out Scoot Inn, which is one of the nearly-hidden music venues in Austin. The Inn has a massive backyard, so you can get some fresh air while you rock out and eat a po’ boy. Shady Grove is another favorite, bringing together two of the city’s favorite things: Outdoor concerts, and classic flavors like Tex-Mex and burgers.

Ireland

There’s no one spot in Ireland that’s more musical than the rest. While many know Ireland for its breathtaking scenery, art, and history, it’s impossible to ignore its musical background. Bono, Enya, Ronan Keating, Sinead O’Connor, Van Morrison, and more were all born and raised in Ireland.

A number of excellent music videos were also filmed here, including Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran, Take me to Church by Hozier, Stop by the Spice Girls, and Sweetest Thing by U2.

The country is also full of inspiration for aspiring artists, and music venues for people who prefer to watch and listen. Check out Olympia Theatre, The 3Arena, Cork Opera House, and The Academy.
